X4Neuro
XAI for Digital Neuropathology
Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture (HMWK) FCMH ExperimentierräumeMeningiomas account for approximately 35% of brain tumors and require epigenetic classification for accurate prognoses. Currently, obtaining this information involves complex and time-consuming laboratory procedures. The junior research group led by Dr. Daniel Amsel (JLU) has developed an artificial intelligence (AI)-based method for the epigenetic classification of digitized histological slides. The aim of the project “X4Neuro – XAI for Digital Neuropathology” is to further enhance this AI model in collaboration with Dr. Jennifer Hannig (THM) by integrating methods of Explainable Artificial Intelligence (XAI). This approach makes it possible to identify the regions that are most relevant to the AI model’s decisions at the cellular level or even at the pixel level.

The “X4Neuro” project has a duration of one year and is funded with €58,750 by the Hessian Ministry of Science and Research, Arts and Culture (HMWK) as part of the “Experimentierräume” funding program of the Research Campus Central Hesse (FCMH).
